About
Welcome to the garden Sewing School
My name is Charlotte. I’m an artist, sewist, teacher and mum of two. Since opening the doors of the sewing school in December 2021 I’ve had the pleasure of teaching people of all ages at every stage of their sewing journey from complete beginner to advanced. Sewing is a transformative and lifelong skill. It provides a huge sense of achievement, creates a more sustainable and self-sufficient lifestyle and gives you complete freedom to create exactly what you want.
I love being a part of each student’s sewing journey and watch their confidence grow alongside their wardrobes and skillsets. Our classes are tailored to each individual and have a maximum of 5 participants to ensure that everyone gets the support they need. I believe that once you know how to use a sewing machine, everything you want to make is within your capabilities, and I’ll give as much guidance as needed for students to realise their sewing ambitions.
I have over 10 years experience teaching Art & Textiles in secondary schools and before completing my PGCE I worked as a creative workshop leader at The British Museum. I studied Fine Art, Sculpture at Central Saint Martin’s and obtained my PGCE in Art & Design at the Institute of Education, UCL.
